Hi! I’m KimShala, the award-winning visionary, and principal ux/ui designer of Ashalla Design Shop, LLC. I oversee all creative development for the company by successfully crafting high-quality brand, marketing, and digital materials for our clients.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Communications from The School of Journalism at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Later, I did continue my education with courses at School of Visual Arts in NYC, Parsons School of Design in NYC, and New York Academy of Art. My concentration in photojournalism, typography, branding design and strategies, and copywriting and marketing, thrust me into the communication design industry while still and school and immediately after graduation.
I called New York City my home for most of my professional life, where I worked for several years with Scholastic Books Inc, and later Hyperion Press, a division of Disney Publishing. I designed graphic novels, books covers, large format table-top books, calendars, and more for the likes of Oprah Winfrey, George Carlin, and Richard Carlson.
I had a desire to make a deeper dive into creative process and art direction, therefore I moved my career into developing ideas for hi-end marketing and design firms. This is when I designed cd and album covers for producer Salaam Remi, and assisted in the production of covers for record labels including Jermain Dupree’s So So Def Records, and Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Records. I also served as Art Director for Pearl Paint Art Supply and designed for independent magazines including One World owned by Russell Simmons and Look Mag!
This experience also includes creating fantastic pieces for retail clientele that includes Hanes Hosiery, Clarins makeup brand, The Body Shop, and GT African Trading. The industries of interest have ranged from real estate (client: Rapid Realty Inc), health care (client: Allen Health), legal corporations (client: LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & McRae LLP) and plenty others.
My 20+ years of work experience in the publishing, design, marketing, and digital design industry, deepened my love for the art and strategies of business. I continue to love business and marketing with a passion.
We, at Ashalla Design Shop, partner with businesses that are significantly and positively impacted from branding, an upgraded design sense, and diverse implementation of diverse marketing strategies.
Ok, I think that’s probably more than enough about me. I am grateful that you have come to this site and if you have a project you’d like to discuss, please contact me here: firstname.lastname@example.org
